Thirteenth Annual Wellington Bell Ringing Festival

The Wellington Ringing Festival takes place from Friday evening to Monday afternoon over New Zealand's Labour Weekend. Most of the ringing is on the Wellington Cathedral bells, but there are opportunities to ring on the five bells at Old St Paul's, the John David Mini Ring and on handbells as well. Ringers of all abilities are welcome to attend.

In 2017, the Thirteenth Festival takes place from October 20th to October 23rd. The programme is:

Friday October 20th
6.30pm - about 9.00pm General Ringing
The John David Mini Ring will be available.

Saturday October 21st
8am - 9am Quarter Peals (tower bells and mini ring)
9.00 - 10.15am, Rounds to surprise; Doubles, Minor and Major
10.15.- 10.45am, Morning tea
10.45 - 12.15, Rounds to surprise; Caters, Royal, Cinques and Maximus
12.15 - 1.15pm, Lunch
1.15 - 2.45pm, Rounds, Plain Methods, Stedman, Erin; Doubles to Maximus
2.45 - 3.15pm, Afternoon tea
3.15 - 5.00pm, Treble Bob methods (including surprise); Doubles to Maximus
The John David Mini Ring and handbell ringing will be available all day.
6.30pm Festival Dinner

Sunday October 22nd
9.00 - 10.00am Service Ringing
Noon - 1.00pm Quarter Peal
1.00 - 2.00pm Quarter Peal
2.00 - 3.00pm Quarter Peal
3.00 - 4.00pm Quarter Peal
1.00 - 3.00pm Ringing at Old St Paul's (5)
The John David Mini Ring and handbell ringing will be available between 11.30am and 4 pm.
4.00 - 5.00pm Service Ringing

Monday October 23rd
8am - 9am Quarter Peal
9.00 - 10.15am, Rounds to surprise; Caters, Royal, Cinques, Maximus
10.15.- 10.45am, Morning tea
10.45 - 12.15, Rounds to surprise; Doubles, Minor, Triples, Major
12.15 - 1.15pm, Lunch
1.15 - 2.45pm, Rounds to surprise; Doubles to Maximus
2.45 - 3.15pm, Afternoon tea
3.15 - 5.00pm, Rounds to surprise; Doubles to Maximus
The John David Mini Ring and handbell ringing will be available all day.

All tower bell ringing, except service ringing at Wellington Cathedral and ringing at Old St Paul's, is on the simulator at Wellington Cathedral.

Morning and Afternoon tea and biscuits will be available free for ringers.

We have several sets of handbells that will be made available thoughout the Festival for those wishing to ring them.
